In school, we say 及格 or 不及格 a bit more. 过关, litterally meaning 'overcome an obstacle', has a wider usage than 及格. For instance, people use 过关 alot more in situation like some games, getting a visa, a job interview, and so on.

As I known, I don't think Shanghainese have any special sayings in this game. But we do say 'eat wine' instead of 'drink wine'. We don't have a word for 'drink' in Shanghainese.
