Surprise surprise, I actually prefer numbered pinyin, because I can't see the marks over the letters unless I enlarge the browser font (Ctrl+) so much that it often mucks up the layout. It's a combination of the natural deterioration in eyesight we all experience when we pass 40, and an older style computer screen. (I insist, it can't possibly be just my age... can it?)

Anyway, when I try to read pinyin with those silly little marks that are too small, I start getting really angry, first with the the pinyin and then whole world. If it's numbers, I can always see them. Oh sure, the numbers are hard to read at first, you have to turn yourself inside out trying to learn to read the numbers for a good ten minutes before you get the hang of it, but it's worth it.

In the case of the fancy flash sections, I can't even enlarge the font so it's hopeless even looking in there, as far as I'm concerned. I had the same trouble with the Spanish site, I could detect about two thirds of the specks above the letters, but couldn't work out which kind of specks they were, because I couldn't enlarge the font.

Just so you know there's an alternative point of view. :-)
