OK, the 不知道 is right, and there is a 咬 right before 哪个. But I'm not sure that in between is 在. It sounds like there are 2 characters there.

ha, actually that sounds right too....I guess it just doesn't sound Aussie. I've heard it in American contexts ,but now I'm thinking of whether any of Charles Dickins characters [one of the poor little kids] duked it out. It does remind me of kids fighting somehow...somehow it doesn't sound so serious, sounds a bit euphemistic I guess. I love Cockney rhyming slang [which Aussies have taken a shine too of course, particularly historically] but I can't think what the rhyming slang would be in this case. I've never really thought of the orgin of the expression before but I'm wondering if it could be similar to the fight challenge " yeah, you and which Army?" and the retort "my left army and my right army"...in this case instead of armies, each fist represents a Duke.

OK, I have heard 'put up your dukes', but I didn't make the connection. I would say I've only heard it on TV. It appears that one of the theories is that it comes from Cockney rhyming slang, so perhaps it is not entirely an Americanism.

yea I kind of figured. Not sure though if that is an "Americanism". Used as in "put up your dukes" the origin is old and fuzzy. If you saw the "wizard of Oz", the phrase is used by the cowardly lion.
