Another one finished.  I would certainly rate this amongst the easier Intermediate lessons - so for those of you looking for that elusive 'bridge' between Elementary and Intermediate I would recommend this one.

Still a few square-bracketed bits above - so, as ever, many thanks in advance to any fellow poddies that can help out!

Jenny: 。。。【

John: OK, so it's not so strict

Jenny:

John: If you use 你 and 您 together it's not too bad

Jenny: 没错

John: But, in recordings you're pretty much always going to hear....

Jenny: 您

John: 您, OK.

Jenny: 嗯

John: Alright, got it.

Jenny:

John: Alright, bye guys. 再见

Jenny:

John: Right, which is more respectful

Jenny: 嗯

John: But, right in the beginning she says 你好

Jenny:

John: Yeah, so my question is if you use mostly 您 obviously you're being more polite, but if you occasionally drop a 你 is that rude, would the other person, like, notice and take offence?

John: And?

Jenny:

John: OK, 'extension number'

John: OK, so the place where you'll be getting in the cab

John: OK, so the 'main entrance'

Jenny: 对

John: Now, uh, my question for you is, uh, I noticed that a lot of the time the operator uses 您

John: OK, so Jenny you said there was jargon in this lesson. What are the jargon that we heard?

John: OK,

Jenny: 嗯

John: And 调度 is pretty specialised as well.

Jenny:

John: Alright, what else?

John: OK, so 'contact number'

John: It really means 'I'll dispatch it for you' but she's just getting started and then after it's all finished she knows what driver is arriving when, that's when she'll contact the person, right?

Jenny:

John: OK, so 回复 means reply, right?

Jenny: 对

John: So, reply to you

Jenny:

John: OK, so that's an intersection of streets, a 路口, right?

Jenny: 对

John: OK, both of those are useful

John: So, help you dispatch.

John: OK, so for pretty much any address you can go either way, right?

Jenny:

John: OK, so that's the address and then what's the final three characters?

Jenny:

John: OK, so 门口 means gate or entrance

Jenny: 对

John: And in this case we're talking about the main one

Jenny: 嗯

John: Which should be the biggest one

Jenny:

Jenny:

John: OK, so what's the Chinesepod address?

Jenny:

John: Now, I noticed in the dialogue they didn't say it that way, they said 二四五二号

Jenny:

John: So both are OK?

Jenny: 对

John: So you like the fancy way of saying

John: OK, is this a set phrase also?

John: Ah

Jenny:

John: OK, got it

John: And then that might need an additional number, which is?

Jenny:

John: And that means 'extension number', right?

Jenny: 对

John: So, the tones are?

Jenny: ‘

John: OK, one, one, four

Jenny: 嗯

John: And of course, one of the most important pieces of information is....?

John: OK, so it's kind of a service industry type phrase

Jenny: 对

John: Because it's not necessarily your own cellphone number or your home number, it could be your work number

Jenny:

Jenny:

John: OK, 4th tone

John: Right, so it's not just 电话 or 电话号码

Jenny: 嗯

John: It's 'contact phone number', right?

John: Are they giving you money Jenny?

Jenny: I wish

John/Jenny:

John: And actually we specifically chose this brand because their 调度系统 is kind of simple

Jenny:

John: OK, so anyway, they call, they get the voice number

Jenny: 嗯

John: And then the operator comes on and the caller states her purpose, right?

John: OK, so 调度 is 'dispatch'

Jenny: 对

John: So, it's a dispatch system

Jenny: 嗯

John: And we also heard the brand, right? The taxi name

Jenny:

John: 'strong life'

Jenny:

John: Alright, so that's 2nd, 1st

John: OK, so that's a real brand and a real phone number?

Jenny: 嗯

John: ...is ‘entering’ the system

John: Uh huh

John: Yeah, can you help us decode the jargon?

John: OK, so welcome to 进入, doesn't that mean 'to go into'?

Jenny:

John: And it is....

Jenny:
