These can sometimes both be translated as "to catch up" or "to make something in time" and in this Qing Wen we will discuss some common usages of both to clarify how to use these phrases.

to be able to catch (something).
来得及
láidejí
to be able to do something on time.
别急，我们赶得上那辆公交车。
bié jí ，wǒmen gǎndeshàng nà liàng gōngjiāochē 。
Don't rush, we can catch that bus.
别急，我们来得及乘那辆公交车。
bié jí ，wǒmen láidejí chéng nà liàng gōngjiāochē 。
Don't rush, we'll be able to make the bus on time.
