中国内地已经决定将会为白色污染和免费塑料袋画上句号。中国国务院办公厅日前向中国内地的各省、自治区、直辖市人民政府、国务院各部委、各直属机构下发了通知，表示说购物袋已经成为白色污染的主要来源。从今年 6月1号开始，全国将禁止免费提供购物塑料袋。为了落实科学发展观、建设资源节约型和环保友好型社会，从源头上采取有力的措施，督促企业生产耐用、易于回收的塑料购物袋，引导、鼓励群众合理使用塑料购物袋；促进资源综合利用、保护生态环境、进一步推进节能减排的工作，自2008年6月1号开始，在所有的超市、商场、集贸市场等商品零售场所，实行塑料购物袋有偿使用的制度，一律不得免费提供塑料购物袋。今后各地人民政府、部委等应禁止生产、销售、使用超薄塑料购物袋。
