1: British Prime Minister Teresa May said on May 24 that she will resign as the leader of the Conservative Party on June 7, but will remain as prime minister until the new leader of the Conservative Party comes on board.
Earlier, Teresa May said at a meeting of all Conservative Party members in the UK that she would resign as prime minister after "Brexit" agreement was passed. This time, she announced her departure ahead of time and analysts believe there are two major factors.
Firstly "Brexit" agreement reached by the United Kingdom with the European Union has been voted against by the lower house of the British Parliament three times. Secondly the European Parliament election will be held in the United Kingdom on the 23rd. A number of polls show that the Conservative Party’s support rate has lagged by a big margin behind the newly established “Brexit Party”.
Who will emerge winner to be the new PM, how will “Brexit” drama unfold. How will British foreign policy change after the new prime minister takes office, waits to be seen.
