if you are offensed by the word pissed (pissed, is that how your write it?). Then don't come to the UK, there is nothing offensive with that word. I found it incredible that people are arguing about such petty things when the aim of the website is to learn Chinese. Trolling is Trolling

Luckily I read the Lonely planet guide while in the plane on my way to Shanghai. I read that part on the tea scam so was aware of that. I've had two groups of people trying to do that to me. But I think it's kind of the same in most big cities. In London, where I live, you just learn how to ignore people while you walked in the street, either they want to ask for money, try to sell you something, try to get you suscribed to their charity (every street corner lol), try to give you flyers/free newspapers/etc.....

Number 1 rule is, do your research before going on holidays. And sometimes just walking like you know the place, people won't stop you.

I had a great time in Shanghai, and think it's safer than most places I've been to. If you check forum on travel, you always see the story of someone who got scammed, robbed etc.... in the end there is a big part of common sense!
