No offense, go_manly. I just thought if we were being that particular about details.... Of course, you're right that that there's little excuse for published material not to have been properly edited (as opposed to individuals' comments). As for the comma before CPod, I found the following when I googled "vocative comma": http://awhalesbelly.blogspot.com/2008/03/save-vocative-comma.html A good example they give for the use of the vocative comma is the difference between "Don't eat, Mom!" and "Don't eat Mom!" Another good blog: http://thegrammarvandal.wordpress.com/2007/06/10/ive-found-my-calling-2/

Personally, I'm just happy when there aren't typos and other mistakes in the Chinese--which there sometimes are, of course.

I've found that the older lessons are relatively harder than the more recently released lessons. I'd suggest going back in the archives and doing the oldest elementary lessons (many of which seem more like intermediate to me!), and then eventually start doing some newer intermediate lessons before tackling older intermediate lessons.

Regarding the construction 在。。。的时候 (zài... deshíhou), is it possible to replace 在 (zài) with 当 (dāng)? I think I remember seeing something like this before. Are the two words interchangeable? Is 当 more formal?

Is 指不定 (zhǐbúdìng) optionally used in conjunction with 呢(ne)? (That is, can it be removed from the sentence in the lesson dialogue, and could it be added to the sentences in the expansion?) In the dictionary, I found two more example sentences, both with 呢: 你甭等他了,他指不定来不来呢。and 我还指不定去不去呢!.What's the grammar pattern here?

Here's a link to a useful number converter I found. I type in a random number, try saying it in Chinese, then click to check my answer!

FYI... the English translations on the PDF aren't matched up with the Chinese.

I had a Chinese friend write out the missing part of the dialogue for me:

B: 你看,本地女人穿的多传统。

A: 这倒是,除了眼睛什么都看不到。

B: 还有,到处都是清真寺,比便利店还多。

A: 好了好了,我们别争了。

B: 只可惜物价太高了,否则我们多玩几天。

A: 算了吧,我们哪有钱奢侈啊。

There are still some extra lines in the audio dialogue that are missing from the pdf and dialogue page. Can we have the missing text? I can't catch everything they're saying... thanks!

I remember this excellent Qing Wen lesson where they explain how to address people in Chinese:
