A small thing I like to do is add keywords to my browser (usually Firefox) to quick search sites like nciku.com e.g.

1. Add nciku.com to bookmarks, then in the bookmarks:

2. Add "http://www.nciku.com/search/zh/%S" as nciku.com's "location"

3. Add as a keyword "nc" (or whatever you prefer)

4. Now you can, in the address bar of the browser search like so:

nc 受

this will then go to http://www.nciku.com/search/zh/detail/%E5%8F%97/1314017

more info here: http://lifehacker.com/196779/hack-attack-firefox-and-the-art-of-keyword-bookmarking. You can do the same in Chrome. Other sites can be set up in a similar way. Super convenient searching :)

A few years ago I went to 黄花城 (yellow flower great wall). Definitely no disabled access there...it had  only just started being restored and was deserted. Fabulous!

Actually, I don't know if it's in book form. For other 武侠 you could try 三國演義 (Romance of the 3 Kingdoms) - I have it in 2 volumes and it's excellent, apart from the Wade Giles system of translation! I also just found this website: wu xia wiki which may have some good tips :)

I've always liked 黄飞鸿 (Once Upon A Time in China) with 李连杰, which has a wonderfully rammed home moral regarding Chinese martial arts vs. modern foreign powers. Also, while it isn't Chinese, Eiji Yoshikawa's Musashi is a good read concerning the (fictionalised) life of legendary Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi

我最喜欢攀岩。(wǒ zuì xǐhuan pānyán)

Is rock climbing big in China? Are indoor climbing centres becoming popular?

既然英国人很爱晒黑,但是怕cancer,她们用tanning salon/tanning beds。“tanning salon"中文怎么说?她们也用"spray on tan" .这个怎么说? (actually, tanning salons have been found to cause skin cancer - there are incidents of very young girls with skin cancers caused by using tanning beds. Spray-on tans seem to be safer but leave you looking orange! Lots and lots of really orange girls walking around London!)

Apparently the Japanese authorities don't care for beards either:http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/may/20/japan-isesaki-beard-ban
