Hey, thanks for the lesson! I've seen uncounted numbers of people playing this game at hotel desks, convenience marts, electronics shops- you name it. I assumed it was some revamped version of Harvest Moon, a video game that I vaugely remember from my younger days. Thanks for re-educating me! Next time I see the 服务员 at the store, I'll be able to ask her how many pigs she's stolen today.

Quick question about 气死我了: Can you say "他让我气死了"?

Wow. This is certainly an... illuminating... discussion. I hope it's okay if I shift topics from slang and mud-slinging to etiquette in Dongbei.

I just thought it was worth pointing out that even within Dongbei, there are different levels of formality. In Jilin City, where I live, it is perfectly acceptable to scream "服务员儿" at the top of your lungs in order to catch the attention of a server. However, when one of my Dongbei friends and I traveled to Dalian, we discovered rather quickly that southern Dongbei has slightly different social norms that its relaxed northern counterpart. So if you're in Jilin, scream and laugh and take your shirt off to better enjoy your beer- but Liaoning seems to require a bit more decorum.

Can anyone from Liaoning province verify this for me? Or were my friend and I just phenomenally unfortunate in our choice of restaurants?
