you're right. the chinese use half kilos 斤jin1.
你体重多少（斤）？
不知道， 不过应该是一百七十（斤）左右。
i've put jin1 in brackets because sometimes it's not necessary to state it. reason being the speakers already know the subject.

January 16, 2010, 04:00 AMWe've had ongoing problems with the computers at work. The tech guy eventually found the problem. He tried to explain to the manager several times that the cpu was occassionally malfunctioning due to a cheap and nasty motherboard, but the manager refused to listen and would get angry. this was perhaps due to the fact that our company had a partnership with the manufacturers of the motherboard.the tech guy just scratched his head and wondered off.
i'm not literate as yet in chinese tech terms. how would one say 'the problem with the computers is in fact the result of a cheap and nasty motherboard'
