I've never heard 右头， 左头 and “东西南北” 头, but often heard 上，下，里，外头 in Taiwan years ago.

What about 头？ Is it interchangeable with 面？

Long ago looking words up in the dictionary took up a couple hours every night. We all got pretty fast at it. We even memorized the numbers of the radicals in the index (#75 wood, or was it water? oops)
Now how about one on phonetics?

I teach beginning Chinese and try to tell stories to students as much as I can. Just working on dialogue can get tedious. I think stories really liven things up and they're just great for language learning because of all the repetition. More stories, please!

Are these just variations for for 书名号 《 》, or do these have special usage?
Do you know what this ‖ is?
