CPod team,

You definitely could have added a few more tear-jerking lines to make us hard working Dad's feel guilty.

much thanks Jenny.  It an interesting use of words as 开玩笑 transliterates to "opening play laughs"... makes sense actually.

I'm trying to hard to lose my canto translations into mandarin, as 你搞我 ? is something I've heard in cantonese growing up, or watching those those really bad HK movies they had in the 90's.

thanks for correcting.

Calkins,

couldn't agree with you more... now why can't the rest of the world be as open-minded and educated like CPoddies?

:)

calkins,

Although some Americans are not that worldly, the one thing that I am impressed with relative to other countries around the world is that minorities have a chance here.  It's not perfect... but take a trip through Brussels or the outskirts of Paris.  If you're of middle eastern descent, you don't stand a chance of breaking the glass ceiling.

Many countries, including China are have deep rooted histories that sometimes get in the way of progressive thinking.

Here is another slice of ignorance.

Thanks bababardwan for the translation, and changye for the new word.

Depending on the context/situation, could one say something like this? (+/-):

你搞笑我马?

Example:

A situation where a car sales person put out a high price for a car, or better yet... a wife telling their husband about a suprise pregnancy?

2 things:

1. I hope to achieve a level of Chinese  proficiency to read and write what was written here.

2. When I go to www.chinesepod.com, I want it to load up each and every day.  It has become part of my habitual late night life style.  So please use your judgement wisely in what you post.  If this site gets blocked for any reason, I will be extremely pissed.

Remember, this site is a business.

Thanks pearltowerpete for the breakdown.

Time to catch some sleep.  Taking my daughter to Chicago's Chinatown New Year's parade tomorrow.
