May 18, 2008 at 12:25 PMHi Azerdocmom, I have almost all of Andrea Bocelli’s cds except maybe his latest. I have not played his cds ever since I watched one of his concerts where he sang mostly pop tunes. The tunes that he sang were written for baritones and that is not his realm. I think he sold his soul and talent to the mighty $.

April 8, 2008 at 12:28 PMHi Artkho, It funny that you mention you do the tomb sweeping twice a year. We in the States also have the same ritual. Once on 清明 and the other time are in August. I forget what they call it. It occurs on July 7th of the Luna calendar. This tradition is still very strong in the States. When I used to visit my parents grave, I make sure that I don’t go on the day of 清明.. I used to go a couple of weeks before. There was (and still is) gridlock in the cemetery if one goes there on the day of 清明.

January 15, 2008 at 4:52 PMSince User24157 request a lesson on going to the dentist, I would like to put in my request for a lesson in taking a music lesson. I just finished a couple of erhu (Chinese violin) lessons with a teacher only speaks mandarin. My problem was with the musical terminoloy. I don't know how many people out there would be interested in such lesson. It is food for thought for the academic team.

December 5, 2007 at 10:32 PMHi AZERDocMom, Are there two different kinds of soymilk? From your description the Cantonese call that 豆腐花. Basically it is a very thin 豆腐. Usually it is served warm with syrup. In the old days they used to serve with maple syrup. But now they only give you corn syrup instead. The soymilk (豆浆 ) that is sold in NYC’s Chinatown comes in a plastic bottle. Maybe it is a regional thing.

December 4, 2007 at 2:17 AMHi Chittywangwang It was not much of a career. Because skiing got so expensive, the only way that I could afford to continue to ski was to teach. The pay was lousy. On busy weekends, there were lots of first timers and teaching beginners was no picnic. As a whole beginners in general and regardless of racial or ethnicity they’re all pretty clumsy.

December 3, 2007 at 2:49 PMA favorite Cantonese breakfast is 油条 and 白粥. It is not too nutritional but it sure taste good Sabibr, You have to soak the soybeans overnight (of course you to wash them first) and then drain them. Put a small amount of beans and a little water (used to facilitate the grinding process) into a blender or a Culsinart. Let the machine chop them up as fine as possible. Repeat this process until all the beans are done. Put the finished product into a big pot and some water. Here is where you determine how much you want to water down the finished product. Boil it in low heat. Eventually it will come to a boil. But if you start with high heat and when it finally comes to a boil, there will be lots of suds (very frothy). Unless you stand over the stovetop watching it until it boils, otherwise the suds will be on your stovetop like a flood. BTW, I am speaking from experience. Boil it for another 20 minutes or so (to get rid of the rawness). Let it cool off and then drain the liquid through cheesecloth. This will be a repeated process and each time you saturated the cheesecloth with the solid you have to wring out the cheesecloth and discard the solid. If you do this while the liquid is warm, you can add the sugar, if you like, when you have finished draining it.

July 27, 2008 at 11:30 AMWe should send this mother to take a course in Psychology 101. I don’t think calling you child FATSO (小胖子) is an endearing (ke ai) term. I think it is more of verbal abuse.
